Alberta focuses priorities while limiting spending. Despite current fiscal challenges, the Alberta government will increase funding for health, basic education and supports for seniors and vulnerable Albertans, while maintaining the lowest tax regime in Canada. This is thanks in large part to cost savings found across government that are being reinvested in these priority areas.

Twenty award recipients will have access to $4,000 for professional development. The three teachers who receive SMARTer Kids Foundation Innovative Use of Technology Awards will receive a comprehensive technology package, which includes a SMART board. All award recipients will be formally honoured at a dinner and awards ceremony with the Education Minister in Calgary on May 29.
